La Ville d\'Eau
Montecatini Terme enjoys a perfect location, halfway between Florence, Lucca, Pisa and the coast of Viareggio.
The so-called \"Garden City\" boasts beautiful parks and Art Deco buildings that still evoke history and distant memories.
At the end of the 19th century, the great composer Giuseppe Verdi fell in love with this town, where he spent long periods of vacation for almost 20 years. Here he composed some of his timeless works inspired by the beauty of the spa resort, which at the beginning of the 1900s was known worldwide as \"la ville d\'eaux\".
Strolling through its lively streets invites to indulge in its chic boutiques and cafès, or savour the tantalizing local delicacies in its restaurants and trattorias
Its peaceful parks embellished by the Art Deco architecture of the ancient Baths are a green oasis of relaxation.
A true medieval jewel, the hilltop village of Montecatini Alto, dominates the town from above, offering unparalleled views of the town and the isurrounding \"wavy\" valleys. Its enchanting little square crowned by ancient palaces, small shops and typical trattorias is an irresistible invitation to taste the local delicacies, such as the typical \"Bruschetta\" (slice of homemade bread with garlic and genuine extra virgin olive oil). From April to October, the village can also be reached by a picturesque woodden funicular: the oldest in Europe.
